healing through preaching

On February 25, 2007, Beth Duke preached at Macedonia Baptist Church in Smith County. Charlie Pollard, the pastor of the church, had invited her to do so. She had cautioned Charlie that she did not want him to lose his job. He said for her to let him worry about it.
Charlie believes strongly that women are called into ministry by God as fully as are men. He acted upon his conviction. He treated Beth as an equal. After many years of being denied opportunities and of being treated harshly because of evidences of gifting, Beth was healed through preaching.
Charlie does not have a church now. His belief was costly. He remains an unsung hero. For a few students at Central Baptist Theological Seminary's Murfreesboro site, and to Beth's family, Charlie is a quiet hero.
